Multani mitti (Fuller’s earth) is a clay that absorbs oil from the skin. When we think of summer skincare, multani mitti is one of the top ingredients that comes to our mind. Summer arrives in India with its own skincare problem, dullness, clogged pores, excess sebum production leading to blackheads, whiteheads. Dullness and tanning due to sweating and Sun. One of the easiest and cheapest ingredients we have handy is multani mitti. It is not necessary to spend a lot of money to have healthy skin, often simple and basic ingredients work best.

How to use Multani mitti as Cooling face mask
There are various multani mitti face pack recipes depending on skin type.
- For dry skin : Mix multani mitti with rice flour and coffee, rose water. Apply gently all over the face, let it dry and wash it thoroughly. Apply a good moisturizer immediately as multani mitti can dry your skin. Mix multani mitti with curd and aloe vera gel. This will remove dead skin and exfoliates skin. Third recipe is mix multani mitti with raw milk.
- For oily skin: Mix multani mitti with rose water. Apply evenly over the face and neck, wash after 15 minutes. The second recipe is to mix multani mitti, besan, turmeric, rice powder, coffee powder, orange peel powder, and curd. This will remove your tan completely. Multani mitti mixed with rose water and honey gives a gentle glow and smoother effect.

For normal skin: Mix multani mitti with potato, cucumber juice and apply all over the face, neck and hand. It is refreshing and removes tanning, calms the hot irritated skin.

Caution to take when using Multani mitti

How to identify good quality multani mitti
Avoid overly processed or chemically treated multani mitti. Natural multani mitti is creamish in color, if processed it looks white and shiney. Good multani mitti slowly absorbs water, becomes soft and smooth and turn into a thick paste. It gives a slightly cooling effect, tightens when drying.
